I have found that it is too difficult and time consuming at times to run both a flat iron to straighten the hair (to stage curls) and then a curling iron or 3-barrel right after. Did you know that you can use a flat iron to do both??? Yes, a flat iron can curl and you do not have to straighten the hair to do it!!! Here is how...
What I love about this tip is that these simple curls can be added to many hairdo's and haircut styles! You can combine them with twists or buns on the top, or a French Braid in the bangs, etc, (I used the two Topsy flip-unders on my DD in the video) . You will notice that the elegant curls add volume to the hair when I simply do not have time to straighten or curl all of it. Let me know if you thought this was useful...
Nice and easy!

Love it! Thanks for the great video. I think I've been twisting my flat iron WAY too much when I try to do this, so watching you twist it was really helpful to me.
xoxoxo
Really cute and easy!! We'll give this a try! Do you put anything on her hair before you curl to help hold it?
Love it, I'm always looking for something cute and simple- I wish I would have seen this before my dd went to school this morning, she wanted to wear her hair down and this would have added some more life to it!
p.s. I love that your husband tapes these for you- it reminds me of my husband, so willing to be supportive! You've got a great family!
This really helped! Thanks so much!
Sweet! That's so much quicker and easier than doing spirals with the curling iron.
I love using flat iron curls! Sometimes, I alter the way I do each curl. So, like you always curled away from the face, I do the same, but didn't like the way you could see that they were turned different ways in the back. So, I alternate throughout the back and it looks really blended.
I wish my daughter would be as patient as yours are! I hardly get a brush through her hair before she thinks she's done.
Your hair-dos are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
I've wondered how to do flat iron curls and now I know! Thanks for sharing this tip, it looks easy and quick, which is what I need for my squirmy girls.
Thanks for the tutorial. I've tried the flat iron curls before and they never were curly enough. It turns out I just wasn't turning the iron enough and it was just curling the hair under. Thanks again!
Hi, I stopped by and fell in love with your blog, I'll be back for more :)
Thanks -- yes it was helpful! I am using this tip for MY hair, as well!
Does the kind of flat iron you have matter? I have a Remington one and it goes up to 425. I tried to do this today and it didn't work in my own hair. I have heard that CHI flatirons are the best, but don't want to buy one unless it is really worth it. Do you opinions on this?
Yes, this was very useful. Thank you!!!!!
I did this on my daughter's super straight hair last night and was uber surprised to finally see CURLS! Farrah Fawcett would have been proud! It took less than 10 minutes. THANK YOU!!
Just wondering what kind of flat iron you have. Thanks for the instructions!
Thanks for the great video! I've been wanting to do that to MY hair but didn't know how. My girls's hair is just a little to short to do that but we'll definitely be doing it when it's longer!
OH hurray!! This showed me what I have been looking for!! I struggled with a good method, so gracias!!! :) U rock!

thank you thank you thank you! This was very helpful, as I could never get the flat iron to do anything but FLATTEN! This is great!
i'm excited to try this. my daughter has pretty curly, wavy hair. but i only wash it every other day or so, & by the 2nd day it has lost it's bounce. this will be perfect to get the body back. thanx!!
