This hairdo is very similar to Lucky Do #2 below except that this is the 3-clover version, and different from Lucky Do #1 because this one is from three ponytails instead of one. This one happens to be my personal favorite.
Items Needed: Brush, comb, spray bottle, hairspray, 4 rubber bands, and any accessories.
Time Requirement: 10 minutes.
Skill Level: Medium
Begin by parting hair about 2 inches above ears all the way around the head. Pull this hair back into a ponytail and secure with rubber band. Now part remaining hair into two sections by parting hair right down middle of head. Pull both into ponytails and secure with rubber bands (you should now have three total ponytails, one on top and two on bottom)…
Flip all three ponytails using a topsy-tail tool (flip the two bottom ponytails outward towards ears). Flip the top ponytail from neck to top of head…
Separate each ponytail into two sections…
Twist each section outward from rubber band…
Have your DD hold sections while you work as needed. When all twists are done pull the ends together forming three heart shapes. Secure all ends together with one rubber band…
Add ribbon or a flower if you desire…
Happy Hairdoing!

OK, time for another St. Patty’s Day hairstyle! This is the first in a series of clovers. I will start with a two-leaf clover. This is personally not my favorite as I like the 3-leaf clover better, but you can decide for yourself
Items Needed: Brush, comb, spray bottle, hairspray, 3 rubber bands.
Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes.
Skill Level: Easy
Start by parting the hair straight down the middle. You can zig-zag the top part if you want, but leave the back in a straight part. Pull each section of hair into a tight ponytail. Ponytails MUST be close together (about 2-3 inches apart maximum)…
This is a picture of how the ponytails should NOT be spaced. Can you see the difference???
Now flip each ponytail sideways starting near the part and flipping towards ears. You can flip by using a topsy-tail tool (I find this to be the least painful) or by loosening the ponytail a little, then create a hole in the middle of hair between head and rubber band… flipping the whole ponytail through the hole. If you need a refresher with better pictures click *here*.
Now separate the ponytails into two even pieces…
Twist them tight… outward away from the rubber band to create the curve shape you need. Have your DD hold one side while you do the other ponytail into twists…
Now pull all the ends together to form two heart shapes. Use a rubber band to secure all ends together. Use bobby pins where needed to hold the rubber band in place or secure the curves of the heart…
Add a green ribbon or flower if you want to. I took this picture so you could see the ribbon in the hair. **NOTE** This was my first attempt and the ponytails on this try were WAY TOO FAR APART! You will want to do them closer.
Happy Hairdoing!

Comment on this post »Ever since Valentine’s Day, I have been playing with some hairstyling ideas for St. Patty’s Day. I have to admit that though I have come up with several ideas, none have been amazing enough to be worth posting!
I was getting quite frustrated by the whole thing, but yesterday two things happened: #1, I got my first comment asking for St. Patrick’s Day hairstyles, and #2, my husband gave me a few more ideas I thought I would try out. I tried them and they worked much better! How cool is that??? So… today I am going to start my series of St. Patrick’s Day hairstyles. I’m going to begin by showing you the Three-Leaf Clover Twists.
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, hairspray, water spray bottle, pomade, 1 regular rubber band, 7 small elastics (the clear kind like ortho’s use on teeth), and green ribbon.
Time Requirement: 5-7 minutes.
Skill Level: Medium
Video tutorial…
Divide the ponytail into three even sections of hair…
Put a small clear elastic around each section about 1.5 inches above where the ponytail is secure. You should now have this…
Divide the first section of hair into two pieces. Add pomade to each piece to control frizz and flyers (don’t be afraid to use lots, I dont think I used enough!). Twist the two pieces outward (away from elastic). This will force the pieces to sort of curve upward creating that clover look. Pull the ends together to create a heart shape and secure ends with another clear elastic…
Repeat these steps on the other two sections of hair…
You will now have three heart shaped pieces. Pull all of these ends together and secure together with one elastic. You should have a three-leaf clover like this now…
At this point, I added a few bobby pins to help the heart/clover leaf to stay in place and secure the rubber bands. Add a green ribbon as an accessory if you want…
Happy Hairdoing!

Option #2-
Option #3-
Option #4-
So after yesterday, I thought I was done with heart hairstyles this year but then I decided to do a good teen heart hairstyle. So I thought and thought trying to come up with something simple, yet sophisticated. This is what I came up with. I did the hairstyle four different ways on each of my girls. It’s all the same technique, but each hairdo is just slighly different, so enjoy!
Heart #5–
Items Needed: Brush, comb, 2-5 rubber bands (the small kind, like orthodontic bands), pomade or wax product, hairspray, and ribbon.
Time Requirement: 5-8 minutes.
Option #1 -Start with DRY hair. My girls hair is slightly wavy naturally so I flat ironed it before starting. You can do your hair curly or straight. Either one will work, but I wanted it straight today so the heart stood out a little more. Part hair on left…
Gather one small rectangle of hair on the right side of part (the side of head with more hair)…
Secure it together with a rubber band.
Now do a flip under. You do this by loosening the rubber band away from head a little. Then make a hole in between head and rubber band. Then push the hair through the hole. Flip the hair BOTTOM TO TOP. You will now have this…
Now divide flipped ponytail into two sections. Pomade both sections well. The flip will naturally force the hair to form the heart curves. Secure the two sections together with another rubber band to form heart shape…
Option #2–
Use all the same steps as above, except create two rectangular shapes (parts)…
Do two flip unders and form two hearts. Again I did this on the side of the head that had the most hair (right side). I rubber banded each heart seperately and then rubber banded the two hearts together. Just to make it a little easier. So there are three rubber bands total at the end of these hearts…
Option #3-
Use all the same steps as above, except this time I created the rectangular shape on the side of head with the LEAST amount of hair (left side of part)…
This just made the heart lay a little flatter instead of poking up like in Options #1 and #2. I also added a red ribbon in the end. This makes the look less tweeny, but is a fun option for your littler ones…
Option #4-
Use all the same steps as option #1. I just wanted to show that you could do it on short hair, too. I did her heart back a little farther from her face so her bob still laid flat next to her cheek.
Happy Hairdoing!
