Straight Bangs | Fringe Hairstyles

September 01, 2011

As I mentioned earlier, I decided to give my #2 the straight bangs/fringe that she has been wanting. She had side bangs before, so we figured why not!

I do not have much experience at all with bang hairstyles since I, myself, have not had bangs for 16 years. This particular week I had my best friend Jenny from ShowMeCute in town visiting, who is a master at bangs.

Straight Bangs

Jenny my daughter’s bangs for me, since I had cut them myself, and then showed me how to style them. Thank heavens she was here to help me out!!! {I apologize in advance that my daughter’s bangs do not look much different before/after because Jenny actually showed me how to do them before we filmed the tutorial.}

What we show you here is how to add some “shape and dimension” to the bangs, by straightening the lower bangs, and then using the straightener to curve the upper bangs. This, in effect, makes the bangs look longer. {Of course, then you can combine the this with many of our other hairstyles!} This is beginning a whole other category for us! Enjoy!

Items Needed: Heat protectant, straightener, brush, comb, hairspray {if desired}

Time Requirement: 2-3 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Double French Twistback | Short Hairstyles

June 29, 2011

By request, I have started to go through some of our short hairstyles that we have not yet filmed.

I have done this double twist hairstyle before in a photo tutorial, but here I decided to film it on my #4 daughter who has the short A-line bob. It is another simple way to pull the bangs back out of your face.

Although this is listed as a short hairstyle, it can be done on any length of hair. If you are concerned about flyaways… feel free to use a good pomade or fiber gum in the twists. Enjoy!

Items Needed: Rat-tail comb, 1 gator clip, one hair elastic, bobby pins, water bottle and hairspray (if desired).

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Happy Hairdoing,

Single Twistback | Mom Hairstyles

May 16, 2011

I am on a recent mission to provide those of you moms some more simple, yet cute, mommy hairdos!  I mean, we make our girls look cute… but sometimes we forget about ourselves!  Actually, girls of all ages can use this, and it literally takes one minute to complete!

Single Twistback Hairstyle

We call this the Single Twistback, and it can be used to switch up the French Front hairstyle that you are seeing everywhere right now.  I show two ways to finish it off, but you can really use your own imagination and see where it goes!

Single Twistback Hairstyle (Front)

{Yeah, I can’t really hide it!  I am still sooooo excited about being named as a finalist in the YouTube contest above!  My girls keep asking me where we stand in the voting (it is close), I think the twins are maybe more “into” this friendly competition than I am!  Now, back to the hairstyle…}

Items Needed: Rat-tail comb, one rubber hair band, two small bobby pins

Time Requirement: 1-2 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Teen Hairstyles: Braided Headband into a Rose

January 25, 2011

Over the past few months I have received a few inquiries asking for hair headband hairstyles . You could say that the hair headbands are somewhat of a trend that is very popular with teens today. This style is a fairly simple one, and can be done in the normal French Braid style, or in the Reverse (Dutch) Braid style, depending on how you want it to look.

Also, you can finish the headband in any number of ways. You can leave the braid hanging on the one side, or you can do what I did and roll it up and bobby pin it into a super cute rosette. The latter is not a new concept and is not something I could claim, but the combination is wonderful.

I was planning on leaving the hair as filmed in the video, but… as you can tell from the photos, I decided to pull the rest of the hair into a loose side braid. You could leave the hair down straight, curl it, or do a side flipped pontail or a braid like I did. Your combinations really can be endless and entirely up to you!

Front View…Reverse French Headband into a Rose (Front)
Items Needed: Spray bottle, rat-tail comb, brush (if needed), 1 large hair band, 1 small hair elastic, hairspray, 2-3 bobby pins, and accessories (if desired).

Time Requirement: 5-7 minutes.

Skill Level: Easy

There you have it! If you like this hairstyle… be sure to let us know!

Single Front Twist | Short Hairstyles

August 25, 2010

Here is a very simple and cute hairstyle idea for keeping your bangs out of your eyes. It can also be done on any length of hair (short or long), whether or not there are layers, and can be done in under a few minutes.

I have promised that I will be adding more short hairstyles, given that I and my youngest daugther have short hair. Again, since the hair is shorter, you really are limited on what you can do in terms of braids, etc. Moms, this one really is for you! I wear this all the time!!!
