April 13, 2010

This fun hairstyle has turned out to be on of my personal favorites, and gets so many comments that you absolutely must try it out on your daughters (I will be adding it to my Favorite’s tab as well)!

This style is one of my secret weapon styles from my old hairstyle photo album  that I wrote about a few months back.  It happens to be a personal favorite of my #3 daughter as well (pictured below)… my girls call this ‘do the “Tri-Bun-Onies”!

Items Needed:  Six large hair elastics, spray bottle, rat-tail comb, curling or flat iron (for subtle curls).

Time Requirement:  5-8 minutes

Everyone has those days that require a quick and easy 2-minute hairstyle. You mothers all know what I’m talking about! These hair style ideas are the perfect for those crazy “zero-time” mornings!

Cute Hairstyles

Items Needed: 2 rubber bands, brush, comb, hairspray, spray bottle, and 1 ribbon, OR 1 headband, OR one flower.

This style is so easy, I didn’t even think it required detailed pictures! To begin, wet down your DD’s hair. Comb hair back into a side ponytail and secure with a rubber band. Twist hair until tight and then wrap it around the rubber band to create a bun. Now here’s three fun, quick, finishing ideas…

1) Add a cute ribbon…Ribbon and Bun #1Ribbon and Bun #2
2) Add a cute flower…Flower and Bun3) Add a cute headband…Headband and Bun #2Headband and Bun

Now, that is pretty simple… isn’t it? You just have to love the do’s that look like you spent more time than you really did! Shhhhh… it’s our little secret!!!

Rosette Buns | Flower Girl Hairstyle

April 29, 2009

Here is a super cute bun hairstyle that I think you will love!

Cute Hairstyles

Items Needed: Comb, brush, spray bottle, hairspray, and 6 rubber bands.

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Begin by brushing hair and wetting it down. Part hair wherever the natural part is and form a big ponytail on the back of the head. Secure with rubber band.

Rosette Buns #1

You are now going to create 5 hair sections in the ponytail. Two sections on top and three on the bottom. The easiest way to do this is to divide the hair into two pieces (one on top and one on bottom). Make sure the bottom section contains slightly more hair than the top section… to allow for the extra hair section. Feel free to loosly rubberband the top and bottom sections to keep them separate.

Now, ignore the bottom section for a minute. Divide the top section into two even-volume pieces…

Rosette Buns #2

Twist each piece until it is tight…

Rosette Buns #3

Now wrap the twisted hair around itself creating a rosette looking bun (see pictures below if you are confused by this step). Secure the bun by putting another rubber band around its base. Make sure all ends are anchored by the rubber band, and repeat with section #2. Your DD’s hair should now look like this…

Rosette Buns #4
Now divide the bottom section into three equal-volume strands…

Rosette Buns #5

Again twist each piece until it is tight. Twist the strand around itself to create the Rosette bun. Again, secure the ends with a rubber band…

Rosette Buns #6Rosette Buns #7

I did the piece on the left and the right first leaving the piece in the middle for last. When you twist the middle piece into a bun you might find there is not a lot of room for the bun. No worries… if you look closely at this picture, you can see my middle bun hangs down just a little for extra room. That’s ok. Your DD’s hair should now look like this…

Double-Braid into Twisty Bun | Easter Hairstyles

March 29, 2009

OK so here is the first of a few Easter hairdo’s. Remember that my goal in hairstyles is to make them fancy and fun, but easy and quick. I just don’t have time to spend an hour doing each girl’s hair! LOL! I gathered this idea from Dancing With The Stars last week.

Hairstyles for Girls

Items Needed: brush, comb, hairspray, 2 rubber bands, and accessories.

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes.

Skill Level: Medium

Begin by parting hair on the side where the natural part falls…

Double-Braid Twistback #1

Now divide a small section of hair from that part down to the ear…

Double-Braid Twistback #2

French braid this section LOOSELY. You don’t want a super tight braid. We are going for the more natural, soft look. Have your DD hold the braid…

Double-Braid Twistback #3

Now section off another small piece of hair parallel to the first braid. French braid this one too. Have DD hold second braid too…

Double-Braid Twistback #4Double-Braid Twistback #5

Now rat the hair on the top of her crown. This just adds a little dimension to the hair and prevents that slicked back look. You don’t have to do this step if you are really opposed to ratting.

Double-Braid Twistback #6

Pull the remaining hair back into a side ponytail and secure with a rubber band. Twist the hair around the ponytail to create a bun and secure with a rubber band around the whole thing.

Double-Braid Twistback #7

You will now have this.

Double-Braid Twistback #8
Double-Braid Twistback #9Double-Braid Twistback #10

Add a ribbon, flowers, or other accessories that match your DD’s cute Easter dress.

Twisty Buns | Short Hairstyles

February 25, 2009

We start today’s style with something so easy a daddy can do it! These twisty buns are a cute alternative to the typical “waterspout piggies” that toddlers wear…

Items Needed: brush, comb, hairspray, spray bottle, 4 rubber bands, and any accessories.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes.

Skill Level: Easy

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Start by parting hair on left…

Now section down from part to each ear…

Gather hair into ponytail and secure with a rubber band.

You will now have two pig-tails.

Now take the hair and twist it till the twist is tight. Now wrap it around the rubber band once. (you can wrap more times if hair is longer) Secure bun by wrapping another rubber band around the whole thing.

Repeat these steps on the other side.

Now style the back of hair as usual. You can also rat the ends that stick out at this point for added fluff.

Add some ribbons or flowers for added cuteness!

Happy Hairdoing!
