Double Waterfall Braid | Cute Hairstyles

October 11, 2011

I promise to keep bringing you updated Waterfall Braid hairstyles from time to time, since this braid is so popular.

This tutorial incorporates a very beautiful double-version of the braid…

Double Waterfall Braid Hairstyle {Back Close-up}

To just prep the style, I had her hair in simple braids the day before.  Taking them out left a very subtle curl with waves that really accented well the waterfall braids.  {This style will look just as cute on straight hair, but I wanted those of you with curly hair to see that the Waterfall Braid looks great on you, too!}

I started by joining two waterfall braids from the front going backward, and secured them together with one clear hair elastic. {If you do not know how to Waterfall Braid, please see the links below the video.}

Now, for the lower waterfall braids I repeated the exact same process… however the hair I pick up from the top is actually a cascaded strand from the upper waterfall braid.  I then finished it off into a hair-wrapped ponytail, to hide the elastic.

One of the best parts of this hairstyle is that it can be incorporated in any number of combos.

For example, yesterday I did this on myself {I have shoulder-length hair} and finished it off into a low messy bun.  Yesterday was my shopping day and I must have had 1o comments or so on just my hairstyle, with a few of the girls really wanting to know how to do it. You could also finish it off by separating the remaining hair into messy/loose side braids, or pull it all back up into a fun and curly updo.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 2 clear elastic bands, hairspray and accesory {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level: Hard

Side Ponytail Combo | Teen Hairstyles

July 21, 2011

Here is a teen hairstyle that we uploaded to YouTube two months ago, but had not yet posted it here! My #2 daughter loves this style and does it all the time on herself {single or double ponytails}!

For added texture, you can Double French Braid the hair the day before and use the curls for 2nd Day ‘Do before completing this style {as I did in the photo}. In the tutorial, the hair was straight.

This hairstyle uses a simple side ponytial, with a partial Fishtail Braid. I also show how to use a hair-wrap around the hairbands, which really makes the style look darling {I only did one in the video, but would recommend wrapping both elastics}! Enjoy!

Items Needed:
Rat-tail comb, two hairbands, Topsy Tail tool {if desired}, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Hair-Wrapped Ponytail | Easy Hairstyle Ideas

April 23, 2010

This is a very quick and easy hairstyle for those mornings when you simply to not have enough time at all!  As simple as it is, the ‘do looks quite elegant and you will get compliments!
Tweens, teens, and moms can even sport this hairdo… and it is simple enough that a daddy can do it (we list this as a Daddy ‘Do because my husband did on our other daughter right after filming this)!  It also holds up super well without bobby pins… repeat… WITHOUT BOBBY PINS!  Check out the video to see how I did it!
Items Needed: 1 large hairband, rat-tail comb (to help part hair), Topsy Tail tool (available in my left sidebar), hairspray (to help with fliers).
Time Requirement: 2-3 minutes
Skill Level: Easy

If you like this hairdo, feel free to let us know!  Happy Hairdoing!

Items Needed:  Six large hair elastics, spray bottle, rat-tail comb, curling or flat iron (for subtle curls).

Time Requirement:  5-8 minutes

The Braid-Wrapped Ponytail | Cute Hairstyles

January 14, 2010

For this cute hairstyle we are going to revert back to pictures. If you want video email me or leave a comment and let me know. I’ve had these pictures forever and just finally decided today was the day for posting them!
There are many variations of this ‘do out there, but this is the one I have been doing for year.  Very simple and cute, you will see!

Items Needed:  Two rubberbands, comb, brush, and spray bottle.

Time Requirement: 5-8 minutes.

Skill Level: Medium

Begin by wetting down the hair slightly (you don’t have to do this, I just think it holds the hair into the braid and ponytail better)…

Section hair at the top of head into a rectangular shape…

Now, French Braid (to view, click link) this section and finish it off with a regular braid. Have your DD hold the braid…

Now gather up all remaining hair and create a nice ponytail. Secure with rubber band…

Take the braid and begin to wrap it around the ponytail holder till you run out of hair. Now secure the braid to the ponytail with another rubber band…

Finished! So easy!

Happy Hairdoing!
