Subtle Twist Back | Daddy Do

March 20, 2009

This hairdo is as easy as they come. What a great hairstyle for those mornings you have 3-5 minutes to be out the door.

This one isn’t anything original, but is a great one to have in your repertoire.

Hairstyles for Girls

Items Needed: Brush, comb, hairspray, 1 rubber band, and accessories.

Time Requirement: 2-3 minutes.

Skill Level: Easy

Start by brushing the hair. My dd had her hair braided the day before so her hair was pretty wavy, but straight or super curly hair would work too.

Subtle Twistback #1

Starting right next to and slightly behind the ear, begin to twist it back…

Subtle Twistback #2

When you get the whole strand of hair twisted, have your dd hold it, then repeat on the other side. Combine ends together on the back of head… and where they meet, add a rubber band to secure…

Subtle Twistback #3

Add a ribbon or flower for bling. Easy and fast.

Hairstyles for Girls: Double-Twist Ponytail

October 13, 2008

Items Needed: Brush, comb, and 2 rubber bands.

Time Required: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Start by parting damp hair on either side…

Begin to twist away from face tightly. Start right next to part, and add hair in gradually as you twist…

Twist until you reach approximately the middle of head in back. Have daughter hold hair…

Twist second side of hair the same as before…

When you reach the middle twist hair down to about 2 inches above hairs end. Add BOTTOM rubber band first. This holds the twist in place until you get the top rubber band in place…

Now place the top rubber band right at nape of neck…

Add a ribbon or bow.

Happy Hairdoing!

Hairstyles for Girls: Twist Back into Braids

October 04, 2008

Items Needed: Brush, comb, water, hairspray/gel, 4 rubberbands.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Start by brushing hair until no tangles are left…

This is one of my favorite hairstyles for my daughters! Begin by wetting down the hair with a spray bottle and part hair just slightly off center. (either side will work)

Once you reach about the middle of the head, jag part to center and finish part down to nape of neck…

Use a rubber band or clip to hold smaller portion of hair out of the way…

Starting right up next to part, start to twist hair into place. Add hair gradually as you are twisting so that it creates a seamless twist. I twist it away from the face toward back of head. Keep the twist going as you move down above ear and to nape of neck behind the ear. Add rubber band to create a pony-tail…

Repeat on other side. At this point you have two options. Option #1, leave hair straight down in pony-tails. Add curls or straighten with a straightener. Option #2, braid remainder of hair and add another rubber band. Add flowers, ribbons, or other accessories to glam it up…

Happy Hairdoing!
