Many of you often ask how it is that my girls seem be so good when we do their hair.
It has to be one of our most-asked questions, especially after five years on this website, and four years on YouTube.
Really, we just stumbled into it. The simple answer is… I started them out on hairstyles when they were very, very young! Literally, like since they ever had the slightest amount of hair to do. That has made all the difference!
I have, however, used a variety of tricks to help keep them sitting still while doing their hair.
In this video, Sweet Pea’s first entire video debut, we share with you our Top-10 tricks to help keep toddlers sitting still!
This is not a comprehensive list, so you may have some great ideas as well! Be sure to leave your tips as a comment below! You can see my explanation for how we use each of these in the video below…
Enjoy!
You can find a toothbrush Steripod in the “oral care” isle at your local Walgreens and other stores…

We are probably one of the only beauty channels on YouTube who hasn’t done a haul. Maybe because we are only hair, but CGH#2 wanted to do one… but something different than drugstore items or makeup. She wanted to do a Bow Haul!
Hair bows are very fashionable right now, and any of our bow pictures are typically going crazy right now on Instagram. We picked up the laptop one night, started surfing Etsy, and fell in love with what we were seeing!
Now my girls wear them all the time, and have been getting compliments on them also!

Although it looks like she took her shop down. Bummer!
Like I said, we never do hauls and this was the first one. Also, do not feel like you have to purchase bows, because you can certainly make them yourself! You can pick up any choice fabrics from you local fabric store, and alligator clips and glue at your local craft store.
Hope you enjoy!

Comment on this post »I have been blogging here since 2008, and the single-most request I receive from fans {after hairstyles} is regarding what we do to take care of our hair. Finally, we decided to film this, so here you go… CuteGirlsHairstyles’ Hair Care Routine!
With six girls living in our home, hair care is something that is very, very important to us! Among us girls, we have four with thick hair, two with thin, one with oily, one with dry, four with natural waves, one with tight curls, and one stick straight. It is too much for me to detail an individual care routine for each of these situations, but in this video I provide my best general summary of our family hair care…
Before I begin, it is important to understand a few things about hair. Approximately 60% of your hair quality is strictly due to genetics, and the remaining 40% or so depends very much on how you take care of it.
Since there pretty much isn’t anything we can do about the first 60%, it is up to each of us to find what combination fits with the remaining 40% to put our hair in the most ideal, best-looking situation.
Here are a few key steps to consider:
Each of the products mentioned in the video are typically available between your local Walmart, Target, or Sally Beauty Supply {or equivalent stores inside or outside of the USA}. If you prefer not to run around looking for these items, you may purchase all of them through this Amazon link.
Products:
Please know, again, my dear friends, that everyone’s hair is different… what works for me and my family, may not necessarily work for you.
We ask that you be mindful of how you take care of your hair and find a combination of diet, hair care, and product that works best for you. Good luck!
Happy Hairdoing!

Comment on this post »Here is another super cute bun hairstyle, that is perfect for girls of all ages. It is one of our easiest undo hairstyles as well.
This hairdo uses two French twistbacks. Begin by making the twist backs from the front, adding hair as you go until you reach the back.
Then, take the first twist back and twist it until the strand begins to wrap around itself into a bun. Slightly secure it with a hairband so that you can do the next twistback. Create the second twist back in the same manner and wrap the second twisted strand around the first bun.
In this tutorial, I used Goody Spin Pins to help secure the bun {which saved me from having to use an extra 5-6 bobby pins}.
I also created this hairstyle to be a little loose, because this is the style that is totally in right now… but you could do this tighter for ballet, dance, or sports hairstyles. It will look super cute!
Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, 1 elastic hairband, 2 large Goody Spin Pins, a few bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}
Time Requirement: 5 minutes
Skill Level: Easy
