Many of you often ask how it is that my girls seem be so good when we do their hair.
It has to be one of our most-asked questions, especially after five years on this website, and four years on YouTube.
Really, we just stumbled into it. The simple answer is… I started them out on hairstyles when they were very, very young! Literally, like since they ever had the slightest amount of hair to do. That has made all the difference!
I have, however, used a variety of tricks to help keep them sitting still while doing their hair.
In this video, Sweet Pea’s first entire video debut, we share with you our Top-10 tricks to help keep toddlers sitting still!
This is not a comprehensive list, so you may have some great ideas as well! Be sure to leave your tips as a comment below! You can see my explanation for how we use each of these in the video below…
Enjoy!
You can find a toothbrush Steripod in the “oral care” isle at your local Walgreens and other stores…

Today’s video features CGH#1 filming her very first tutorial!
If you are like me and my girls, you love fishtail braids… but fishtails can take “soooo looooong” to style! We have shown you before how to create fake fishtail braids, but this technique is so easy and super fast!
My twins love this style because it’s so fast and easy, but looks so much like a fishtail that sometimes people cannot even tell a difference!
CGH #1 wanted to show all of you this braid because it is a morning go-to style when you are in a hurry because it can be done in “2 minutes or less”!
Items Needed: Brush, 1 small hair elastic, hairspray {if desired}.
Time Requirement: 1-2 minutes
Skill Level: Very Easy
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Also, we present to you our four favorite names for our new family puppy… from the over 16,000 fan suggestions you left in our last video. Our four favorites are Chewy {from Chewbacca in Star Wars}, Thor {because this little guy is so tough}, Mousse {play on words for a tough Moose and the mousse foam used in hair, and Braidy {play on words for Brady, the boy’s name, and “Braid”y, since we are huge fans of braids!
For the next week, are allowing our fans to vote for their favorite from among those four names, and we will announce the new puppy’s name in our next video! Be sure to comment on YouTube below the video with your vote!
Enjoy!

Comment on this post »Several months ago we were contacted by a producer from Disney Online who asked if we would be interested in helping out with one of their online episodes…
Ironically, we were already in LA meeting with another division within Mickey-ville responsible for the DisneyStyle YouTube channel… and neither division knew about the other’s interest in us! Since we were already in town, we agreed to help.
We filmed this webisode with Mark and his beautiful 2-yr old daughter. Mark is a stay-at-home dad who is doing his absolute best to cover for mom while she works. {There is something so cute about a daddy “trying” that endears them to us, right???}
Here we introduce Mark to the Topsy Tail tool, and how to use it. In fact, Shaun, my hubby demonstrates it for him… and Mark learned it perfectly!
Interestingly enough, this Dads short was only supposed to be viewed on Disney Online, however all throughout these past two months, it has been airing on Disney Jr at night! {That came as a HUGE surprise to us!}
How did we know??? Several hundred of our fans throughout the US have been commenting on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or emailing us to state that they had just seen us on Disney Junior!
Well, we contacted Disney and the responsible team authorized us {thanks, Disney!} to show you our Dads episode here on Cute Girls Hairstyles…
Enjoy!
If you loved this video, please go here and leave a comment for Mark {the dad} about how awesome he did! We certainly need more involved daddies like Mark in this world!
And… as always, feel free to share! Happy Hairdoing!

Comment on this post »I have been blogging here since 2008, and the single-most request I receive from fans {after hairstyles} is regarding what we do to take care of our hair. Finally, we decided to film this, so here you go… CuteGirlsHairstyles’ Hair Care Routine!
With six girls living in our home, hair care is something that is very, very important to us! Among us girls, we have four with thick hair, two with thin, one with oily, one with dry, four with natural waves, one with tight curls, and one stick straight. It is too much for me to detail an individual care routine for each of these situations, but in this video I provide my best general summary of our family hair care…
Before I begin, it is important to understand a few things about hair. Approximately 60% of your hair quality is strictly due to genetics, and the remaining 40% or so depends very much on how you take care of it.
Since there pretty much isn’t anything we can do about the first 60%, it is up to each of us to find what combination fits with the remaining 40% to put our hair in the most ideal, best-looking situation.
Here are a few key steps to consider:
Each of the products mentioned in the video are typically available between your local Walmart, Target, or Sally Beauty Supply {or equivalent stores inside or outside of the USA}. If you prefer not to run around looking for these items, you may purchase all of them through this Amazon link.
Products:
Please know, again, my dear friends, that everyone’s hair is different… what works for me and my family, may not necessarily work for you.
We ask that you be mindful of how you take care of your hair and find a combination of diet, hair care, and product that works best for you. Good luck!
Happy Hairdoing!
