Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Pick up a large section of hair at the top of your head.  Divide into two sections.
  2. Begin a fishtail braid.  This is where you take a small piece from the outside of section 1 and cross it over and add to section 2.  Pick up a small piece from the outside of section 2, cross it over and add to section 1.
  3. Now continue alternating back and forth, braiding about 10 stitches.  Go back and pancake or loosen the edges to create volume.
  4. Keep braiding and pancaking until you reach the end of you hair.  Secure with a small elastic.
  5. Pick up a piece of hair from the front just below your first section.
  6. Pull the piece back and pull it through your fishtail about 5 stitches from the top.
  7. Repeat on the other side then secure them with a bobby pin in the center of your fishtail where the pieces cross.
  8. Pick up two more pieces from each side of the face and tuck them  in the fishtail down a few stitches from the first.  Adjust your pieces and secure in the middle with a bobby pin.
  9. Repeat this process for as many sections as you like.
  10. Finish with hairspray {if desired}.
