Bandana Curls | No-Heat Curl Hairstyles

Our No-Heat Curl tutorial series has been very popular, because a lot of teens and moms are trying to avoid using too much heat on their hair but still want voluminous curls.

It’s about time that we posted another no-heat tutorial!No-Heat Bandana Curls{The styles are also popular for single or involved daddies who are intimidated by using heat tools anywhere near their daughters!}

Today we are going to teach you how to create beautiful No-Heat Bandana Curls using just a few bandanas/handkerchiefs, a few rubber bands, and a water spray bottle.Young girl with red and white bandanas wrapped in her hair | No-Heat Curl Hairstyles

This curling technique gives you more of a wave than a full curl, and it dries fairly well because the fabric breathes and allows moisture to evaporate as you sleep. This is what helps set the curl.Young girl outside modeling No-Heat Bandana Curls

Young girl outside modeling No-Heat Bandana CurlsWe have used the curls as is, and we have also incorporated them as a base for several hairstyle combos. In this tutorial, my daughter Brooklyn simply added a simple daisy accented headband as an accessory.

This No-Heat Bandana Curls tutorial is so easy, we know that you all can do it!

Enjoy!

Items Needed: Brush, spray bottle, 3-5 small hair elastics, hairspray and accessory {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Begin by brushing the hair, and parting it where you  normally would…
  2. Now, divide hair into halves side to side…
  3. Then, divide each half into half once again, but top to bottom this time {you should have four total sections each creating essentially a square shape}…
  4. Using a water bottle, take your first top section and spray it down until slightly damp {not soaking}…
  5. Now take a diagonally-folded bandana and wrap it in half around the base of that hair section, next to the head…
  6. Then tightly braid the hair around the bandana, using the bandana ends ad your two other strands…
  7. When you run out of hair, secure the ends with an elastic {the bandana will help pull some of the moisture off the hair, and also add thickness to prevent the hair from getting too kinky or wavy}…
  8. Sleep on hair overnight, or let it dry all day.
  9. The next morning, take the bandanas out, tip the head upside down and gently shake the curls loose with fingers {this separates the curls enough to give them a nice voluminous look}.
  10. Tip the head back up and finger comb the hair until the curls are to your liking.
  11. Add a cute accent braid, accessory, or hairspray {as desired}.
