Bow Braid Headband | Girls Hairstyles

We were surprised to see The Bow Braid do so well in only one week’s time! In that video, we showed you several other ways to incorporate the bows into five separate hairstyles.

Today, I decided to show you how to do a Bow Braid hairstyle on yourself {as requested by so many of our YouTube fans}.

This style uses a French Braided Headband as the base before adding in the bows. If you do not know how to do a French headband, you can learn how to do so by clicking our French Front hairstyle tutorial.

In this tutorial, I only sectioned enough hair for four bows, but you can actually do more if you would like. My personal opinion it that this hairstyle looks better with only a few bows on one side, more like an accent to the style, rather than bows all across the front.

I have worn this hairstyle three times in the past two weeks, and cannot tell you how many times moms stopped me wherever we were to ask how I did it! Thankfully, I have this website where I can refer them!

Items Needed: A brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hairspray or pomade, a hairpin (not a bobby pin), and one hair elastic.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes.

Skill Level: Hard

If you like this hairstyle, please feel free to blog about it, share it on FB, tweet it, pin it, whatever-you-want it!

Happy Hairdoing!

I love your website and I’ve used some of your hairstyles on my little sister for her dance Recitals and have gotten a lot of compliments but I do barrel racing and have layers in my hair and I can’t do very many hairstyles that look good and stay put in my hair besides a french braid headband. Do you have any ideas on hairstyles that would work? It is required that i Wear a hat and my hair is medium-ish long length. If you have any hairstyles that would work I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

  6. Where can you buy hairpins? I’ve been using a Bobby pin and it doesn’t work as well as a hairpin 🙁 so any advice on where to buy them would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

  7. I think this is so cute! But I’m kind of just starting french braiding. I have mastered a regular braid and want to try french braids, but everytime I try its loose or lopsided. Can you possibly do a tutorial on how to do that braid before the bows are added? Also I agree about doing a tutorial on the Katniss bow braid(: Thanks! And I LOVE your website! 😀

  8. Hey, I was just wondering if you could please post a tutorial on how to do a bow braid going across the back of your head!! I saw it in your first bow braid video and loved it 🙂

  12. Hi Mindy, it’s the first time that I’ve seen a bow braid headband. It’s really cute and I’d love to try this on my hair. Thanks for sharing the tutorial video.

  13. I absolutely love, LOVE this style!! It’s so cute and you don’t need any fancy clips to jazz it up.. although I’m not very good at this one yet, but I’m practicing so I can do it well. The sad part is that every time I do it, the little end pieces are too long but if I add them to the next bow the first one falls out or the second bow somehow doesn’t work… any tips?

  14. How did you do the curls on your hair. I have naturally curly hair but the front always seems to end up straight so some curling videos would be very helpful 🙂

  15. Thanks for the self-do tut with grownup style tips. 🙂 It looks great. I did a Katniss braid with a single bow at the top per hubby’s request as he said too many bows looked funny for an adult. 😛
