This one is for all the short hair girls!  Bailey loves her short hair and she is constantly experimenting with different ways to style it.  The double dutch bun has been her favorite lately.  I finally got her in the studio to share her secret hairstyle with all of you!

These buns are perfect for young girls, women, or teens of all ages.  It is secure enough to use for sports or high level activity.  You can dress it up or down to make it work just about any day of the week.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by parting the hair down the center all the way back and down.
  2. Place one side in a ponytail to hold it out of the way temporarily.
  3. Pick up a small section of hair in the very front and begin a dutch braid.  This is where you alternate crossing the outside strands under the middle strand.  After the first complete stitch you will pick up a small new piece of hair and add to your outside strands before you cross under the middle strand.
  4. When you run out of new hair to add in, pick up a rubber band.  Wrap the rubber band around your braid twice.  On the third wrap, only pull the hair through half way.
  5. This is where Bailey changes the look of her bun.  Pull the loop as far as you can without pulling out.
  6. Bring the loop up to hide your ‘ends’ and secure with a bobby pin. {or more if needed}
  7. Go back and pull out a wispy or two around your face and pancake (or loosen) the edges of your braid.
  8. Repeat steps 3-7 on the other side of your head.
  9. Finish with hairspray. {if desired}
