Cute Hairstyles: Triple Twists and Messy Buns

This is a hairstyle my girls practically grew up on… it was also the style that most prompted me to start this blog. Everyone always stopped me, no matter where we were, to ask how we did the style…

Step-By-Step Instructions:

1.  For this cute hairstyle, begin by parting hair on either side from face to back.

2.  Now section from middle part to right ear.

3.  Section from middle part to left ear…. use a rubber band or clip to hold section out of the way. Add another clip or rubber band to the hair in back to keep it out of the way.

4.  Using the section with the MOST hair, separate section into 3 smaller sections.

5.  Starting with the section closest to face, begin to twist from middle part to ear.

6.  Repeat until you have three finished twists.

7.  While your daughter holds the three twists, undo hair in back and separate into two sections down the middle.

8.  Gather right side of back hair and create a ponytail. Hold with hand.

9.  BEFORE putting rubber band on the hair, add in the three twists. Now rubber band all together.

10.  Now take ponytail and twist.

11.  Wrap twist around and around the rubber band to create a twisty bun.

12.  Use another rubber band to secure the twist and the bun. I like to have the ends hanging out so I leave about 2 inches of hair hanging out of the bun at the top.

13.  Repeat whole process on the other side.

14.  Rat the ends of hair a little to add fluff. Use hairspray to make them stay in place.

  2. i’m 16 and i love these hairstyles! you are so creative and good with hair. I just love how i can use any of these hairstyles and i will get so many compliments! thanks so much!

  3. my mum did this on my hair but without the buns at the end and just left it a pony tail.It looked so cool. I got alot of comments on it and some other girls did it too after me so i kinda started a trend. lol anyway thanks for the awesome ideas you are very talented. 🙂

  4. I am not good at french braiding, so this is a GREAT alternative! My 5 year old daughter looks adorable with this hair style 🙂

Her twists weren’t as tight as yours (I’m sure it comes with practice), but it still held all day- even with my busy little girl trying to keep up with her big brothers.

I may be a little partial.. but my daughter is sure to be the cutest in her class, or better yet, in her whole school! 😉

  5. You should post a video for this! It would realy help me a lot. I love to do my 3 year old cousins hair but her hair is not long enough! Its longer than your short hair styles and shorter than your long hair styles…do you have any hair style suggestions for medium length hair? Thanks you have some great ideas!!!

  6. awwwwhhhhh,so cute!!! when i tried this hairstyle on my hair it either loosened or fell apart….please post a hair tutorial on a few easy hairstyles that look like you put alot of effort in those hairstyles!!! please!!! it would help!! thats all im asking….=] your fan,s.m

  7. This is adorable, but when I put my daughter's (who is 4)twists into the ponytail they loosened up also. It looks messy and not at neat as yours. Any suggestions? Is it the way I twisted them, or my daughter not holding them tight enough?

    Love your ideas!
