Today we are going to teach you how to create a Barrette Tieback using fishtail braids! For this hairstyle you will need to dig out your barrettes from the back of your drawer.  They are going to make this hairstyle awesome! If you don’t know how to Fishtail Braid, watch our tutorial HERE!
https://youtu.be/yL7oUaIW-Dw  Tiebacks are so pretty,  I love that the barrettes change it up a bit.  It’s still quick and easy with a little bit of somethin’  somethin’.  To see your own photo recreations of this style featured in our app, feel free to tag your photos on IG with: #CGHBarretteTieback Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 3 bar barrettes, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. I prepped Rylan’s hair with wand curls.
  2. Start by parting the hair down the middle.
  3. Pick up a small section of hair in the front.  I picked up hair from the front, leaving a little out just above the ear.
  4. Divide your section into two pieces and begin a fishtail braid. (Fishtail tutorial link above)
  5. When you reach the end, go back and pancake or loosen our braid to make it nice and full/fluffy. Secure with an elastic or have your daughter hold the braid.
  6. Repeat the fishtail braid on the other side.
  7. Bring both braids to the back and cross them.  Take your first barrette and secure one braid at an angle.
  8. Pick up a second barrette and secure on the opposite side at an angle.
  9. Now use your third barrette to secure across the bottom of your two angled barrettes to create a triangle shape.  (see video for more details on securing the barrettes)
  10. Go back and loosen the hair at the crown for volume.
  11. Finish with hairspray {if desired}.
