Here is a great helpful hint for the day (having nothing to do with hair)!
Did you know that Google offers 1-800-GOOG-411, which is a FREE information phone number? Let me say it again! FREE information!!! I love that word! (Calling the standard #411 with Verizon, AT&T, Sprint will ding you for anywhere from $1.49-1.79 per call!)
A few months ago a cousin told me about this number and that calling would get me access to business listings, names, phone numbers, and addresses. All for free. I have been using it ever since. I simply programed 1-800-GOOG-411 into my cell phone under “information”. Now if I’m out driving and need info, I have the number ready to go!
Since Google receives revenue largely through advertising in its search engine, this information service is paid for by an advertiser who pays Google for you to listen to a brief 10-second audio ad. Still, I have no problem listening to a small ad in order receive information for free! I use this phone number all the time.
For example, yesterday, we were out buying a new refrigerator. While we were in Sears, I called Home Depot and Lowe’s on the spot (thanks to Goog-411) and checked their prices on the same fridge! It was awesome! I even found a better deal via the phone at Lowe’s. Yippee!
An added bonus, after receiving your information… you can get more detailed information about your listing or a map to it by simply saying “Text message” or “Map it.”
**Note** Huge post coming tomorrow so watch for it!
