Run For Rachel

Many of you will remember my recent post about a close family member, Rachel {age 17}, who was diagnosed in August with an extremely-rare and inoperable brain tumor {DIPG or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma}.  You can read Rachel’s personal journey of battling this cancer on her blog.

Rachel and her mom just returned from a six-week stay at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital where she was admitted into a trial to treat the cancer.  Results are promising, particularly related to her symptoms, however the road is still long.  Her courage, determination, and faith in our Savior is a wonderful example to us all.

So many of you wonderful fans have sent letters, packages, and kind words of love to Rachel and her family and we thank you for that! Still more ask if there is anything more you can do… there is!

I was just informed that many kind-hearted members of the Orem, Utah community and its high school have organized a 5K race on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 9:00 AM {100% of the proceeds going to Rachel’s treatment}.

My hubby, the twins, and CGH#3 just registered to run the 5K, and CGH#4 and I will push a stroller with our two youngest!  I want to invite all of you fans to participate in the 5K along with us, we very much welcome you!  We have wanted to hold a “Meet & Greet” with fans for a long time, so please click on the Run for Rachel link to register!

The deadline to register is Thursday, November 1st and the t-shirt deadline is on Wednesday, Oct 24th at midnight.

For our non-local fans, including our international fans, who wish to help but cannot participate in person, you may wish to make a personal donation to Rachel on the same webpage.  There have already been $255 in donation so far!  If you also wish to share the link, please do so as well!

Once again we want to thank each of you wonderful fans, for your prayers and consideration for Rachel.  We count our blessings every day for each of you… we also hope you all consider yourselves part of our family!
