Items Needed:  Brush, rat-tail comb, a few small hair elastics, bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5-10 Minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by taking a section of hair at the crown of the head.
  2. Tie it off with a small clear elastic.
  3. Make a hole in the center (just above the elastic), flip the ponytail up through the hole and under.
  4. Pull the elastic tight and then tug and loosen the hair to give a loose/messy look (also creating height and volume).
  5. Take 2 more sections of hair on the sides of your topsy tail and bring them back.  Secure with an elastic just to the left of your first topsy tail.
  6. Repeat step 2 and 3.
  7. Take another section of hair at the ears on both sides.  Pull them back and secure with an elastic to the right of your first topsy tail.
  8. Repeat steps 2 and 3.
  9. Take your last sections of hair (should be below the ears to the bottom of hairline), bring them back and secure with an elastic on the left of your 1st topsy tail.
  10. With the remaining hair you are going to begin making small loops and pinning.
  11. Take a small section of hair, roll up into a loop and pin.  (See video tutorial for more details)
  12. Continue with small sections of hair; looping and pinning until you run out of hair.
  13. If you have longer hair with pieces still hanging out after 1 loop, create another loop and pin.
  14. Finish with Hairspray.
