CuteGirlsHairstyles Family

The idea for Cute Girls Hairstyles began years ago. It was 2001, in fact, when my twin daughter’s were 18 months old. I was getting tired of the simple “waterspout” piggies on top and eager to try out some new hairstyles. As their hair grew longer, and as my mind could not keep track of the hairdo’s… I decided to take pictures of each hairstyle and place them into a small photo album to be kept by the bathroom sink.

Well, we added two more daughters and many more hairstyles as the years went by. When the twins entered school, I found them flipping through the hairdo book every morning looking for their ‘do for the day. {They were certainly more invested in the hairdo time when they had a say in which hairdo to go with!}

During those seven years, that photo book had been worn ragged by all four of my girls. It was not until October 2008 when I finally decided to record the hairstyles in a blog format so that I had something “permanent” to reference. As friends, family, and even strangers asked me how I made a certain hairstyle, it was very easy to refer them to the blog addess.

Well, friends told more friends, and they told friends, etc. Now Adopt a ‘Do – Cute Girls Hairstyles has become a hairdo reference for tens of thousands of moms all over the world!

I also share my passion for adoption and we have assisted several families to be more open to it… even helping place several beautiful babies into wonderful adoptive homes.  We now have a total of six beautiful children, each of whom we love dearly.  The last two are adopted, although they have always been in our hearts!  {Feel free to click Our Adoption Story to read our own miracle with our son.  Our daughter’s adoption story is forthcoming…}

    I love your youtube channel. I love to do the styles on myself and cant wait for my daughter who is 15 months to grow more hair so I can braid it. The water fountain ponies are starting to get old, but thats what I got to work with for now. Say a prayer to those hair gods for her. Thanks, and again great channel :)

    I just saw the 20/20 show in which you were featured about youtube users. I love braids, and am passing your website along to others. I had a feeling that you were LDS, I am, also. I have 5 kids, the first and last were daughters. Neither of my girls liked to sit still long enough for me to braid their hair (I perfected a body/knee lock method ;) , but I did it anyway. Now that my youngest is 18, I no longer have kids at home to pretty up, but I have a granddaughter to practice on…
    Awesome family, awesome work, I wish you the best!

    Hello Mindy,

    I just love, love everything you do! You’re amazing! God Bless you & your family!
    So, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on a way to keep ponytail holders neat and together. I’ve tried pouches and baskets, but they either get mixed up or spill out…help please! :) Also a suggestion for keeping headbands would be awesome too! Thanks, Venus

    Hey Mindy and family,
    This is Desiree from the Netherlands, mother of 2 wonderfull children, an eight-year old son and a three-year old dauhgter.
    A few weeks ago I discovered your YT channel and I would like to know you that I think your hair-do’s are great: the way you’re teaching it to me as a viewer is very inspiring! Your daughters are lovely, how they just sit there quiet and assist you and smile! You really taught me how to do the French braid, which I found very confusing before I saw your tutorial. Now I’m practicing it (if my daghter is in the mood :-) ) and it’s getting better every time. My daughter’s favorite is the messy bun, especialy if I’m also having on one.
    I also created a cute hair-do myself on which I use very little barber clips. I take little sections of hair (about 1 1/2 square centimeters) and then twist it until it’s rolling together, then I fix it with a little (pink coloured of course!) barber clip. I repeat this proces until I run out of hair and in the end it looks like a head full of little buns. I hope you can imagine what I mean. If you like I can send you a picture by email! A variation of this is first make a high ponytail and then take pieces of it an do the little buns and stick them all around the ponytail.

    Love from Holland! Desiree

    Hi Mindy, I am a hairstylist and am inspired by your styles. I have been doing the heart braid since 1998. I saw it in a book and forced myself to learn it because I wanted my flower girls to wear them in their hair for my wedding. I thought it would be a nice touch. I love the five strand side messy braid. I love to do the five strand and that is just a great variation that I might have to use someday on a client. Thanks for all the great ideas.

    Hi Mindy,

    We used to be in your ward three years ago in Lehi. I remember when you were first going through the adoption process. I was surprised and excited to come accross your you tube video on the waterfall braid. I remember when you first adopted your son also and how cute he was in your little wrap sling. I am glad to see your new addition. Just wanted to say hi and how happy I am for you and your family. Thanks for sharing your talents with everyone!

    I’ve been enjoying your YouTube channel, and started letting my 6.5 yr old watch. Today I did her hair in a single “bow tail” and yesterday I tried the Katniss braid. I started my blog similarly, just to keep track of things I was cooking so I would remember what I wanted to make again. Mine is not so big, but it’s fun.
