Double-French Braids w/Messy Flips

Items Needed: Comb, brush, and two rubber bands.
Time Requirement: 7 minutes

This braid hairstyle is perfect for gymnastics and sports, requires that you to already know how to do a basic french braid. It is one of the hairdo’s that I use the most, and we call them Soccer Braids around our home. One of these days I will get around to posting a French Braid instruction, but not today. Sorry if this prohibits you from doing this fun hairstyle.

I start by doing a zig-zag part down the middle of the head…

From the middle of the head, continue a start part down the back of the head. You will now have two sections of hair. Rubber band or clip one side out of the way…

Now braid one section into a long French braid…

When you get toward the end of the braid, leave about 2 inches of hair upbraided. Flip the whole braid up onto itself and rubber band the whole thing together…

Repeat process on the other side of head and rat the ends so they are fluffy and full…

**Note: this hairstyle creates great curls for a “second day” do. I will post that tomorrow.

Love this…Love the day by day hair help. I am having so much fun doing my daughter’s hair in the morning. I actually look forward to getting up in the morning and getting her ready for school lol;)

Totally forgot to mention that this morning I did the twists into side ponytail/messy bun. it was so cute and stayed up during the entire day. I put a little pink ribbon that she picked out in the messy bun, to top it off. Very cute:)

    Hi Mindy,
I was just wondering what kind of shampoo and conditioner you use. Does it have a really big effect on your daughter’s hair, or is their hair just naturally beautiful?

Just did this tonight on my daughter before her dance class. It looks soooo cute! I too wonder what kind of shampoo/conditioner you prefer for your girls? My girls (2 & 4 yrs old) have incredibly curly hair, and I’m constantly detangling it. Any help is much appreciated!

hello, i was wondering if you could post a way of tying ur hair up so it won’t stick to ur neck and it’s quick. Cos’ i got swimming training and my pony keeps sticking to my neck. NOT FUN! And now i’ve gotta swim 10 laps at once.

I love this so much! It looks like it would be perfect for my gymnastics class in 2 hours. Only problem is I can’t french braid! I think I know how, it’s doing it that’s a problem.
