In this hairstyle tutorial we have an exciting surprise for you all!

CGH#2 asked me if she could film a tutorial, so we decided to mix it up a bit by allowing her to teach you one of her go-to hairstyles on herself! She was so nervous to be teaching the tutorial… but you can see her courage as you watch the video! Her fans were so good to her in the comment box on YouTube… it was quite sweet!

Simple Braided Bun | Cute Girls Hairstyles

This simple braided bun is a cute, quick style designed for young teenagers learning to do their own hair or people who need a great style in a hurry!

We especially thought of this one with swimmers {wet hair} as well as for other athletics or cheer/dance! The hairstyle is also great for “day-three” hair, which is best worn up so you can pull it back and still look good.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, 2 hair elastics, 1 rubber band, hairspray, and a few bobby pins or spin pins {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level:  Easy

Simple Braided Bun Hairstyle

Hairstyle Steps:

  1. Comb all of the hair up into a high ponytail… {You will want it to sit high on the head, not on the back of your head.}
  2. Secure the high ponytail with a hair elastic…
  3. Divide the ponytail into three sections and create a simple, basic braid down to the ends of the hair…
  4. Secure this braid with a small elastic {preferably the same color as your hair}…
  5. Then twist the braid around the front of the ponytail holder to create the bun effect. {You really want the braid to lay flat against the rubberband so that the braid is featured well}…
  6. Once the hair is all twisted around into a bun, secure it with another hair elastic or bobbypins/spin pins. {Either way will work fine, so simply pick whatever is most comfortable for you.}…
  7. Add a little pop to the hairstyle by throwing on a cute headband as an accessory.
Enjoy!

Happy Hairdoing!

  1. I love this hairstyle, I use it all the time for marching band! It is so easy, (so I can fix my hair on the bus) and it still looks good when you take it out of the hat! (as opposed to other buns that fall out and look bad) I really love this! And, for all the people with long hair who said that they had a hard time, all you have to do is wrap it around a few more times, it still looks fine.

  2. Absolutely wonderful easy hairdo. She did an excellent job and I think you and your girls are fantastic for sharing your hair styles. I’ve done quite a few of the french styles. My fav is the waterfall!! Thanks so much!!

  3. i have to put some gel and hair straighten it because my hair’s so thick. i wished i looked like your daughter she’s so pretty. i’m pale when i try tanning it turns bright orange or stays bright pink. help me! anyone knows how 2 tan pale/pinkish skin tones?

  5. She did awesome! Sometimes practicing in front of a mirror helps boost confidence. Just pretend the mirror is the camera and talk about how to do the hairstyle. She still did an awesome job! Keep at it CGH #2! :)

  6. This is really super cute but I can barley do it on my hair. Great job cgh#2!!;) you should have one of the twins do the other twins hair I think that would be kook. And us the terns would enjoy seeing the hairstyles they wear. I love u Mindy keep Theose hairsteyles commin

  7. I love this hairstyle. I’m 12 and do this all the time for my multiple dance classes. CGH #2 YOU ROCK!!! Do more of these please! You’re a natural. P.S. Nice biceps. Thumbs up!!!!!

  8. I love this. I kinda do it all the time but my hair is really thick so I usually do two braids. Anyway CGH #2 did Fantastic! Wish you had more tutorials done with CGH #4 and #6! I have a 1 year old sister and kinda short hair so some of the hairstyles are harder to achieve perfection! Love your family! :D

  9. Quick question: What about your bangs that were sticking up? Do you just leave those sticking up out of the middle of the bun? And what if the braid is longer than wrapping around just once?

  10. I love it, she did an awesome job. I have long hair too so I cant really do it but I always do other braided buns and I love them. I would love to see duaghter #1 and duaghter #2 do more DIY hairstyles.
