The Subtle Bow | Easy Hairstyles

July 11, 2012

For this week’s post, we wanted to show you a super-easy hairstyle that can be done in literally one to two minutes!

Hairstyle bows are very popular right now, as seen everywhere but also evidenced by our Bow BraidPonytail Bow, Lady Gaga Bow tutorials, etc.  However, this hair bow is a lot more subtle and perfect for girls and women of all ages! Super cute, too!  It is a hairstyle that can be done in a pinch!

The Subtle Bow | Easy Hairstyles

I have had one subscriber state that this really could be a Daddy Do, and we are bummed that we didn’t think of that first because my hubby could have done this one easily!

If a guy can tie his shoe, he can do this hairstyle on his daughter!

To dress up the hairstyle further, you may choose to curl the tassels of the bow and the style would be very  elegant!

Also, we added a small clip with guests Elle & Blair Fowler, two of the top beauty idols on YouTube who happen to be sisters! We met them both at VidCon and had a great time chatting and laughing! Aren’t they both so beautiful??? If you stop by their channels, be sure to comment and let them know that Mindy from CuteGirlsHairstyles sent you! It will put a smile on their faces!

Enjoy the video!

  1. This hair style is so quick and easy and I think like its great if you have like 3 minutes. But like what if you hair is very short and you are having trouble can you show us a video of that?Other than that all you hair styles are very elegant and pretty and I have been using them for a couple of days now. So just keep posting videos and I’ll comment to them.

  3. Hi!
I’m a thirteen-year-ol girl, and i always wear my hair either like this or like the Lady GaGa bow. For all you girls who are asking how to get it to stay, try one of two things – either pinning the loops to your head with an x of bobby pins, or putting an x of bobby pins through the knot-like thig in the middle of the bow. I use both of these and they very much help. :)

  4. I’m a tween girl and I just want to say I love your hairstyles. I do them on my sister all the time and some of them on myself. My favorite is the Dutch braid that twists around your head into a flower bun.

About this video and short hair:
There is another way to do this. Pull the hair back like she did in the beginning but just bobbypin it behind like a normal half up pullback style. Then pick two strands from the hair hanging down and form them into loops where you have the bobby pins. The tails should cross. Then pick a price from the middle and pull this over and behind the place where your bow loops cross. Secure this with a bobbypin. I know this is kind of confusing, so I’ll try to get a video on my website, phoenixfashion.webs.com.

    You rock Mindy!

  8. Mindy,
I love the styles that you post! You taught me how to French and Dutch braid. I tried this out on my hair, but even after it was pinned (and I had help) my hair wouldn’t stay in the bow!!! It came out. Please tell me how I can fix that! I so badly want to be able to wear my hair like this!
    Thanks,
    Ashley

  13. hey this hairstyle is really cute but it won’t hold even with bobby pins, when i let go it just comes out. Any tips?

  14. I just watched the rope braid tutorial and loved it. I also thought it would be even prettier with a messy bun or flower clip on the bottom instead of a regular twist. I hope that’ll give you some more tutorial ideas! ;) thanks!
