Aren’t we always on the search for a new sports or athletic hairstyle?  If you have athletic children or just active children this is a great hairstyle to keep hair out of the face.  We combined a waterfall braid and a french braid for this cute style! To see your own photo recreations of this style featured in our app, feel free to tag your photos on IG with: #CGHGymBraidCombo

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level: Hard

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by creating a deep part to one side of the head.
  2. On the weak side, pick up a small section at the front and create a regular french braid.  (This is created by taking 3 strands.  Cross an outside strand over the middle strand, then cross the other outside strand over the middle strand.  Now continue the same process only before you cross the outer strands, pick up a little bit of new hair and add to your outer strand.)
  3. When you reach the back the ear, finish with a regular 3strand braid to the end of the hair. Secure with a small elastic.
  4. On the strong side of the hair, pick up a small section at the front.  Divide into 3 pieces and begin a french braid.  (This braid will be using the top horizontal half of hair)
  5. When you have braided about 3-4 stitches,  you will change your braiding a bit.
  6. Now you are switching to a lace braid with a twist.  For this part you add in new hair to the top outer section before you cross over the middle section.  The bottom outer section you will not add new hair AND you will split the piece in half!  You will cross half over and drop half.
  7. Once you reach the middle back of the head, finish with a regular 3 strand braid to the end.  Secure with a small elastic.
  8. Go back to the front and begin a regular french braid with the remaining hair.
  9. Once you reach the middle back of the head, pick up all of the hair and secure with one large elastic.  You have just created on big ponytail at the back of the head.
  10. Take out the two small elastics you used on the first two braids for a smooth ponytail.
