Edgy Side Pullback | Easy Hairstyles

I have been wanting to film this hairstyle tutorial for a long time, but couldn’t really think of a good name for it.

So many fans have commented on the style in past tutorials when I have worn it, so we filmed it anyway. I even wore it when I filmed a recent episode of The Mom’s View. {We absolutely love The Mom’s View, and will be appearing with them from time to time, so please be sure to subscribe to TMV’s channel!}

My husband calls this the Swayze Hairstyle, because he says it looks a lot like the slicked-side mullet hairstyles that Patrick Swayze wore most of his movie career.

Some people may call it a rocker style, some call it punk, and people like my hubby may even call it… the Swayze!

Of course, my Edgy Side Pullback is a fun one that can be used to compliment many different outfits at various events. You can use this hairstyle to make a nice outfit a bit more hip and edgy, or you can use it to dress up a simple pair of jeans and flip flops!

Nicole Richie, Brooke Burke, and several other Hollywood celebrities have been spotted wearing versions of this hairstyle lately…

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 large hair elastic, 1 small elastic band {color of hair}, 4-6 bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Skill Level:  Easy

Happy Hairdoing!

  7. Mindy-

I need more easy back to school styles that I can do by myself. My hair goes about down to the middle of my breast bone, sort of the length of your twins’ hair. I need something easy, cute, fun, and catch eyes. Can you do that?

I really like twists but can’t do buns to save my life! Thanks!

  8. This is beautiful, and your website rocks!! Do you know of air styles for naturally curly hair? My hair is very very curly and I am always doing the same old style day in day out. Some new down and up styles would be great!! Thanks

  9. I love this! I’d love to see how you do your curls/waves in this style too. . . is there already a video on this?!!

  10. I really like it. I’m pretty sure that the second step of pulling hair back with bobby pins won’t work on mine…would it be terrible to use another small pony or maybe do 2 ponies and a third layer with the bobby pins?

    1. I was thinking the exact same thing as you! Im sure it would work but I would try both and make sure you like the 2 ponies more than the bobby pins

  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE this look!!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your awesomeness with the world…I have 4 children…2 of which are little girls who have beautiful hair and I am dying to try all of your ideas on them! You are up on all of the current trends in hair and make it “user friendly” for all of us!

  12. I love this hairstyle! It looks great on you! I personally love this website as well! You guys rock and a hope there are more and more hairstyles coming soon! I would also appreciate if the videos can come sooner because I feel like it’s not enough because I LOVE this website and your amazing hairstyles! Love you! Bye!

  13. Hi Mrs.Cindy,
I am 11 years old and I love doing your hair styles on myself and my sister. I always have something fun to do on my hair that you have invented or found out how to do. I’m always using the fish tail braid
    in my hair.

One thing that I need is swimmable hair styles. I always find my self needing to put my hair up in SOMETHING!

    Thanks,
    Anna

    1. Hey Anna her name is Mindy not Cindy. And she doesn’t reply to these comments. This hairstyle is probably a little too grown up for kids tho.

      1. That was mean. That would look different on kids and tweens.BTW theres theresno such thing as a too old hairstyle

  14. Wow I love it!! It’s so pretty!! Tho I have short hair.. Well it still work on mine?? Thanks!!! I love all of your video!!!

  15. I am so glad you did this one. I LOVE this hairstyle and have been trying to figure out how to do it. Now I can try it out! And thanks for posting hairstyles my 6 year old can rock and a couple for us mom’s too.
