Criss-Cross Applesauce or Pigtails?  Ha Ha!  If you are a busy mom (what mom isn’t a busy mom?) you are looking for quick and easy hairstyles for toddlers.  This one is perfect to add to your list.  To see your own photo recreations of this style featured in our app, feel free to tag your photos on IG with: #CGHCrissCrossPigtails

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, small hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}, bows, and flat iron.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start with damp hair and part down the center.
  2. On one side, pick up a small section of hair at the front and divide into 3 small sections.  Begin braiding a dutch french braid.  (start with 3 small sections, cross one of the outside sections under the middle section, cross the opposite outside section under the middle section.  Now pick up new hair and add to the outer section before you cross them under the middle.)
  3. Stop picking up new hair just behind the ear and finish with a regular 3 strand braid.
  4. Secure with a small elastic.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 on the opposite side.
  6. In the back half of your hair that isn’t braided (parted in the middle) pick up the hair on one side.  Pull up into place where you want your ponytail to sit.  Bring the braid from the opposite side and add to ponytail.  Secure with an elastic.
  7. Repeat step 6 on opposite side.
  8. Add bows if desired.
