Whether you are look for a pretty hairstyle for the last day of school or something easy for summer, you need to try this one!  This one will leave everyone talking about your cute hair!This easy DIY hairstyle is a combo using lace braids and a pull thru braid.  To see your own photo recreations of this style featured in our app, feel free to tag your photos on IG with: #CGHLaceHalfUp
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hair elastics, bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by picking up a section of hair in the front on one side of your part and divide into three pieces.
  2. Take the top piece and cross over to the middle, then the bottom piece over to the middle.
  3. Take the top piece and cross over to the middle only this time pick up a new piece of hair and add before crossing over to the middle.
  4. Take the bottom piece and cross over to the middle.  You are not adding new hair to the bottom piece of hair, only the top.  This technique is what makes this a lace braid.
  5. Continue braiding until you reach the back your head and then continue a regular three strand all the way down your hair.
  6. Go back and pancake your braid by pulling on the edges to add volume. Temporarily, secure your braid with a bobby pin or small elastic.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 on the other side of your head.
  8. Now secure both of your braids at the back of the head with a small elastic.
  9. Release your temporary pin or elastic.
  10. Next, pick up a section of hair on each side of your braid. Bring them up and secure with a small elastic on top of your braid.
  11. Go back a gently pull on the edges of the pieces of your new ponytail to create volume.
  12. Repeat steps 10-11
  13. Finish with hairspray {if desired}.
