RevAir Reverse Hair Dryer | FAB or Fail?

Woman using hair product, "RevAir" to style her hair

No one likes straightening their hair! It takes time (and this is after you blow-dry) and the heat can really damage your hair. So when I heard about RevAir – a reverse-air hair dryer that dries AND straightens using less heat than a typical blow-drier and flat iron – I was excited to give it a try!

Testing The REVAIR Reverse-Air Hair Dryer

REVAIR Reverse-Air Hair Dryer, Easily Dry and Straighten Hair

I bought the RevAir on Amazon for $399.99 and, although the package was heavy, the setup was pretty straight-forward.

My first impression wasn’t that great. The box was a lot of work to unpack. And the bulky box means that you’re going to need some storage space for this big piece of equipment. And, boy, was this thing loud! Fair warning – it also takes some muscles to hold the RevAir up. It has way more heft than your standard blow-drier or flat iron.

As per the instructions, I started on a lower air setting to test the tension and make sure my hair didn’t get tangled in, but I turned the heat up. After the first round didn’t snag my hair, I bumped it up to a higher level. To use, separate your hair into sections and put one section at a time into the wand. Hold it against your scalp for about 10 seconds, and then slowly pull your hair out of the wand for 60 to 90 seconds.

Final Results

My hair was fully dried all the way through, but it wasn’t as straight as I prefer. I tried it on a few different hair types with mixed results, but it did a great job on super-textured hair. The results also lasted a couple of days even in humid weather on naturally coarse and fluffy hair. I only ran into one issue with hair getting snarled, and it was probably because the ends were dry.

Final Thoughts

The RevAir definitely delivers on getting your hair dry and straight. Just be sure to play around with the settings to find the perfect combination of suction and heat for your hair type. The airflow doesn’t tug too hard on hair and it doesn’t get super hot, so I never worried about burns.

Overall, I give the RevAir a Fab AND a “Fail”. A fail because I just can’t get past the high price and the size. Those factors might rule some people out. RevAir gets a fab because it does a great job drying and straightening while also cutting down on the time and heat damage. I love the results, but they come at a cost.
