I am really enjoying the use of Lace Braids in my daughters’ hair lately, and they have worn this braided style for about six months or so.
We first saw this hairstyle on Rihanna from a red carpet shoot last year. My girls always receive so many compliments anytime we wear it, but it is tough to explain to moms on the spot… which is why we created this tutorial!
The hairstyle uses two Lace Braids on either side coming down over the ears {literally} and combining in the back.
{If you do not understand how to follow the Lace Braid technique, please see our detailed Same-Side Lace Braid.}
From there, you take all remaining hair and braid it into a large side braid.
You can accessorize the braid if you wish, but we actually think it is beautiful simply left as is!
This hairstyle is perfect for women and girls of all ages… and would be particularly beautiful for Prom, Homecoming, or any other formal occasion.
Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 clear hair elastic, hairspray {if desired}.
Time Requirement: 8-10 minutes

For this week’s post, we wanted to show you a super-easy hairstyle that can be done in literally one to two minutes!
Hairstyle bows are very popular right now, as seen everywhere but also evidenced by our Bow Braid, Ponytail Bow, Lady Gaga Bow tutorials, etc. However, this hair bow is a lot more subtle and perfect for girls and women of all ages! Super cute, too! It is a hairstyle that can be done in a pinch!
I have had one subscriber state that this really could be a Daddy Do, and we are bummed that we didn’t think of that first because my hubby could have done this one easily!
If a guy can tie his shoe, he can do this hairstyle on his daughter!
To dress up the hairstyle further, you may choose to curl the tassels of the bow and the style would be very elegant!
Also, we added a small clip with guests Elle & Blair Fowler, two of the top beauty idols on YouTube who happen to be sisters! We met them both at VidCon and had a great time chatting and laughing! Aren’t they both so beautiful??? If you stop by their channels, be sure to comment and let them know that Mindy from CuteGirlsHairstyles sent you! It will put a smile on their faces!
Enjoy the video!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 2-3 bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.

Comment on this post »It was so funny that just a little over a week ago we started receiving lots of Facebook photo posts of a hairstyle that we have had pinned on our “Try” Pinterest Board for awhile, by fans who wanted us to film a tutorial.
Then fans started emailing and tweeting the photo as well! Overall, we received likely received over 100 requests for this in under a week!
Since my daughters are totally loving pancake braids right now {braids that are flattened by tugging out the elbows of the braids}, it was easy to convince them to film a tutorial. Fans, this one is for you!
The base for this hairstyle, as seen in the original photo floating around, uses our Pancaked Dutch Braid technique. However, I did not pancake the Dutch portion of this braid because my #3 daughter has a little shorter hair and I needed as much length as we could get for the half-pancaked flower braid.
As my daughter wore this hairstyle around, people were stopping her all day to comment on how cute it looked! I am sure you will have the same response!
Feel free to use the braided flower bun by itself, or in any number of hairstyle combinations! This hairstyle is also perfect for weddings, formal occasions, flower girls, prom & homecoming updo’s, etc!
Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 hair elastic, hairspray {if desired}, 1 small flower accessory for center of flower bun.
Time Requirement: 7-10 minutes
Skill Level: Hard

Comment on this post »Yes, I have been on a bit of a “bow” kick lately with our braids and hairstyles, but that is because they are very much in style right now!
For many of us moms, there are options with the Bow Braid, but wearing the Lady Gaga Hairbow or the mini Bow Tails may be a better fit for our daughters than for us.
So, I decided to incorporate this bow technique into a cute side ponytail version that is perfect for older teens and women, without looking too childish! {My friend Jenn over at Girly Do’s posted a similar double-pigtail version of this on her daughter a year ago.}
It is difficult to describe exactly how to make the bow in a step-by-step procedure. It is equally hard to show visually show you since my hands end up being in the way most of the time, so we decided to show you two different views hoping that it will be easier for you to understand.
Please note that this is not a hairstyle to wear on a very active day because the bows are very delicate and serve more as an accessory than anything. You can use the hair bow in any number of hairstyle combinations {half up/half downs, curly hair, two ponytails, one in the back, pigtails, as a bun, etc.}, so your options really are limitless!
My daughter wore this side ponytail to Church this past Sunday and lots of little girls and moms were asking her how we made the bow!
Good thing all we have to do is refer them to this website!
Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, water bottle, two hair elastics, pomade {hair wax}, 1 bobby pin, hairspray {if desired}.
