Crimped Strands | Waterfall Braid

Here is a cute Easter Hairstyle that will definitely stand out!  It incorporates the use of a Double Waterfall Braid, but with “spot” flair. In fact, I am working on a series of Waterfall Braid videos that will show you several ways to finish off the hairstyle.

Now I know that many of the younger generation think that crimping is soooo 1980’s, but I am telling you as a hair guru that it is coming back.  I still have the crimper I used as a teen, but it was in rough shape.  So, I looked online at Walmart and Amazon and found several crimpers, some of which are accent crimpers (1″ or 1/2″, which I absolutely love)!

The key is that once you finish the double Waterfall Braid, you take each strand… one by one… and gently crimp once every three inches or so. (You can crimp the whole strand, but I prefer the accents.)

We received soooooo many compliments that Sunday, and many moms asked where in the world I found my crimper!

Items Needed: Rat-tail comb, one hair band, crimper, and heat protectant (I know I say protectorant in the video… but they are both the same thing per google!), accessory if desired.

Time Requirement: 10+ minutes

Skill Level: Medium

*Disclaimer: One of my twins had fiddled with our HD camera and accidentally lowered the settings to 370p, so the video is not in HD. I was bummed, but when she looked up at me with her gorgeous puppy dog eyes… I couldn’t be upset! Could you?

Happy Hairdoing!

  1. I really don’t think this is cute . I think its pretty screwed up to be crimping a young girls hair. By the way is that make up!?! She’s maybe what? 7-10 years old jugeing by what that crap on her baby face dosent cover up. I think its trashy that a young girl is already wearing makeup and getting her hair singed and burned by an iron.m the younger generation you should be talking about should be at least in highschool. Not little elementary school girls. Crimping hair, make up, I’ve even seen people dressing their kids up in mini skirts, short shorts and crap like that. What’s up with you people these days and making your children look like harlots?

    1. George I am just curious why are you spending your time watching little girl hairstyle videos, hhhmmm. Anyway it’s obvious she is not wearing make up and if she were so what, any one who has ever had a little girl knows that at some point in time they all want to play a little dress up and that’s kind of the point of these lovely videos. To take the comment you made to the point that you did is ridiculous. If you really look and pay any attention to any of her videos you can see she and her girls are always very modestly and appropriately dressed. So I say how dare you sir take something so innocent and distort it with your obviously warped mind. I believe the fact that your comment was left and she never responded just proves that she is living life on a level way above you.

    2. Dear George, you sound pretty hateful. What is your problem anyway. I love all they hair styles you do and I think your girls are baby dolls! just beautiful! George…get off this site if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all.

  2. Mindy,
These are wonderful to watch and easy to follow! I’ve linked you up to one of my posts. Hope to learn more styles.
    Cheers,
    Debbie

  5. I’m so inspired by you and your family! I’m the middle child in a family of five kids and I also really want to have a large family when I get married for several reasons. You’ve shown me that you CAN be cool and hip and still have a large family. That means a lot to me!

Thanks so much for what you do! I’m a teenager and I still love all your hairstyles. lol This one is especially excellent! 😀
