Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by parting your hair down the center.  Secure one side with a temporary elastic to keep out of the way.
  2. On the side your are working on, divide your hair into two sections, front and back.  Part should be just behind the ear.
  3. Secure the back half with a temporary elastic.
  4. You are going to work from the point at the top of the hair where your center part and side part meet.  To create equal diagonal or pie shape sections, start at your top point and divide your front section in half.  Clip the back half out of the way.
  5. Start at your top point and part your front piece in half again.  Secure the top piece in a ponytail with a small elastic.
  6. Pick up the second section, add the first ponytail and secure into a second ponytail with a small elastic.
  7. Release your clip and create two more equal sections. Continue making two more banded ponytails.
  8. Release your temporary elastic in the back half of the hair and repeat the same steps to create 4 more sections.  In the end you will have 8 sections on half of the head.
  9. Repeat the banded ponytails on the opposite side of the head.
  10. Now you have two large ponytails at the back of the head.
  11. You have several options at this point.  Keep the ponytails or you can create a rope twist, a fishtail, a regular braid, a pull thru, etc.
  12. We chose a rope twist.  Divide the ponytail into two pieces.  Twist both sections in the same direction, twist the sections in the opposite direction to create the rope.  Secure with an elastic.
