Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, a few temporary hair clips, and hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 6-8 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by sectioning off about a 2 inch section in the from of your hair from the part down to your ear.  Clip the bulk of your hair away as to not interfere with your braid.
  2. Starting by your part line create a dutch braid. Add in new hair until you reach your ear then finish with a three strand braid.  Secure with a small elastic.
  3. Pancake the edges of your braid until it is nice and full.  (see photos or video)
  4. Now you want to start a fishtail braid right behind the the dutch braid you just created.  Pick up a section of hair at your part line (about 2 inches) and divide into two pieces.
  5. Start your french fishtail braid.  Add in new hair on both sides until you reach your eyebrow, then do a regular fishtail until you run out of hair.  Secure with an elastic.
  6. Again, pancake your braid until it is nice and fluffy!
  7. Next section your hair from about your ears and clip the hair up.  You will be working with the hair from your ears down to the nape of your neck.
  8. Pull the section of hair to the same side as your braids and create a regular three strand braid all the way down.  Secure with an elastic.
  9. Release the remaining hair from the clip.  Bring it down (including your dutch & fishtail braids) to the side and create a messy bun.  Tug and pull apart as desired.
  10. I pulled the hair at the crown to give a little height, volume and fullness.  Secure messy bun with bobby pins as needed.
  11. Now take the bottom 3 strand braid you created & left down, pull it up and around your bun. Secure with bobby pins.
  12. I pulled a few wispys out around my face and finished with some hair spray!
