Easy Hairstyles: Triple Twistback Side Ponytail

So my girls have totally been into ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ (SYTYCD) lately and I noticed that for the first few weeks the girls were sporting different variations of twistback hairstyles.  Twistbacks are easy to do, so I thought I would feature one that I saw the most on the show, as it is super cute and easy to do.  Here it is…

Triple Twistbacks into Ponytail

This hairstyle can be used on little girls, tweens, and teens. Even moms can use this hairdo! The style is particularly fun, because you can incorporate hair twistbacks any way (and quantity) you desire. {Be mindful, that thin hair will make the twists look very skinny, so you may only opt for one twistback per side. Using Pomade on the twisted strands will help you reduce fly-aways, too.}

As always, in hairstyles like this, if your daughter cannot hold the hair twists for you… feel free to use a gator clip or something to hold them.

4th of July Hairstyle: Star Twists

I had promised a few 4th of July hairstyles, but I just have not had as much time as I need to get them filmed. I did get this one on today.

Star Twists Back

Star Twist Front

Many of you will recognize the base hairstyle as one featured on Good Things Utah in June. The base hairstyle is called Holiday Twists, but the variation I demonstrate below uses about 1/3 of each ponytail to draw the lines of a star on top of the head.

Items Needed: Rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 10 hairbands, pomade, ribbon or pipe cleaners (if desired as accents).

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level: Hard

Back on Good Things Utah!

As many of you know, our hairstyle segment on Good Things Utah was so successful in May that the GTU girls invited me back again on Friday, June 25th!  We are so excited!!!  I will be sharing a few more hairstyles as well as a few summer haircare tips…

For anyone who would like to attend the taping of the segment, chat with the gorgeous GTU girls, and meet me and my daughters… you can visit the GTU Ticket Request page and fill out the form. Request tickets for you and your daughter, or a group of friends and make it a Girls Day Out…  we would love to see as many of you there as possible!!!  At last month’s live filming, it was so fun to meet a bunch of you and some won prizes from the GTU crew!

Also, with our recent switch from Blogger to a WordPress plaform… I noticed many loyal followers have written emails mentioning that my feed in their Blogger Blogroll or Google Reader was not updating.  I checked into it with my personal blog and noticed the same thing.  I have done what I can via feed redirecting, however if it still is not working… all you have to do as a sure-fire fix is delete me from your blogroll or reader and add the site over again.  That will do the trick!

Thanks to each of you for making this website the best it can be!  Happy Hairdoing!

Braid Combo into Messy Bun | Hairstyle Videos

Here is one of a few hairstyles that we filmed awhile ago, but have not yet posted here. It uses a cornrow on the top with two standard braids on each side. Then you combine the braids on the back of the head, braid them down a bit, and form a messy bun. (On the video tutorial below, I used a low messy bun… but it would look even better if you bring it higher on the head by not braiding down so far.) The best thing about a combo hairstyle, is that you can use any combination of braids to make the style your own!
