Do Hair Tattoos Really Work? | Hair Trends

A few months ago, I saw a photo of Kylie Jenner wearing a really simple hairstyle with what looked like a flash tattoo. I went on a mad hunt to figure out what I could find. Guess what?  There are temporary tattoos that are specific for hair!

I  just had to try them, but asked myself…  do they really work?  Kamri and I decided to give them the “Fab or Fail” test on our YouTube channel!

Hair Tattoos | Cute Girls HairstylesHair Tattoos | Cute Girls HairstylesIt wasn’t super hard to find hair tattoos.  After a quick google search, I found a few options from Urban OutfittersScunci, or Amazon.  If you know of any local stores please let us know in the comments!

After applying the hair tattoo I added a simple tie-back the hair.  We liked how it accented the tattoo and really made it pop.  We both immediately fell in love! I am thinking about how much fun we will have with these all summer.

Last I wanted to know how hard or easy it would be to get the tattoo out of the hair.  You never know what you will have to work with!  Be sure to watch the entire video and see how it went!

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, wash cloth, hair tattoos, scissors, and hair wax or hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 1-2 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. For hair tattoo application, choose your design from among the tattoo packet…
  2. Cut out your tattoo design, and remove the protective plastic cover…
  3. Spritz a little hairspray on the hair and let it dry, adding additional surface grip for the tattoo to adhere to…
  4. Place the tattoo over the section of hair on which you want the tattoo to appear, and add a damp washcloth to the paper surface, gently pressing against the head until the paper is fully saturated…
  5. Carefully peel back the paper to reveal the temporary tattoo in the hair…
  6. Allow the tattoo to fully dry before styling…
  7. Kamri’s hairstyle was finished with a soft twist tie-back and secured with a small elastic…
  8. For hair tattoo removal, gently run the comb through the hair, starting about an inch above the bottom of the tattoo (removing the tattoo in sections like this makes the removal much easier and painless), and then work your way up.
