I receive quite a few emails from this blog, and it is hard to find time to answer them all, but one of the most common requests I am asked is to provide a detailed French Braid instruction. Honestly, the French Braid is one of the most difficult braids to explain “step-by-step” and really must be shown in person for one to get the whole idea. So, given your requests and the fact that I couldn’t possibly show all of you how to do this in person… here is a video we filmed over the weekend with instructions on how to create a French Braid (and “K” in her soccer uniform).
The braid style I used was one posted quite a while back called Double-French Braids w/ Messy Flips, which also uses the Zig-Zag part. Please do review the links above and then watch the following video tutorial:
French Braid Video #1
Click to watch video, or click here to view on YouTube.
I hope this clip helps! The “A, B, & C” stranding (with the B strand always in the middle, and that you add hair to strands A & C as you braid down) is the key to successful French Braiding. As mentioned in the video, it really takes practice. This French Braid style is a very cute hairstyle that holds well and makes for an equally cute Second-Day ‘Do with a few accessories!
Good luck, and Happy Braiding!
PS~ I added little social-bookmarking icons below that will allow you to join us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube channel, and Technorati!

I just posted a poll on my left sidebar asking for your input on what you would like to see more of at Adopt a ‘Do – Cute Girls Hairstyles. I provided options for what I am asked most via email, but feel free to add additional requests via comments to this post. I look forward to hearing what you really want to see!
(For those who do not know, “Daddy Do’s” are simple hairdo’s that even a daddy can do!)
On another note, I just scoured as many mom-affiliated blogs as I could with a little help from MomDot.com. Happy Browsing! Here is the list:

Everyone has those days that require a quick and easy 2-minute hairstyle. You mothers all know what I’m talking about! These hair style ideas are the perfect for those crazy “zero-time” mornings!
Items Needed: 2 rubber bands, brush, comb, hairspray, spray bottle, and 1 ribbon, OR 1 headband, OR one flower.
Time Requirement: 5 minutes or under.
This style is so easy, I didn’t even think it required detailed pictures! To begin, wet down your DD’s hair. Comb hair back into a side ponytail and secure with a rubber band. Twist hair until tight and then wrap it around the rubber band to create a bun. Now here’s three fun, quick, finishing ideas…
1) Add a cute ribbon…

2) Add a cute flower…
3) Add a cute headband…

Now, that is pretty simple… isn’t it? You just have to love the do’s that look like you spent more time than you really did! Shhhhh… it’s our little secret!!!

You may not be aware of it but there are a lot, a WHOLE LOT, of blogs dedicated to hairstyles. There are so many hair blogs that there is even an article outlining the “top 50 hair blogs”. It is therefore safe to assume that hair is a big deal, and not in a 1980’s Farrah Fawcett’s hair “big” way, but in a Goliath driving a Hummer up Mt. Everest kind of way. You can find every and any kind of hairstyle imaginable, and sometimes unimaginable, on a blog somewhere. The real question is, who reads all these hairstyles blogs? Is there truly a pool of readers vast enough to support the hair-centric online scribbling of hundreds of would-be aficionados of hairstyles? The answer, as I am sure you know since you are reading this, is a resounding YES.
Cutegirlshairstyles.com is a website directed at a particular sect among those lusting after prose related to hairstyles. This website is directed at, well, people styling the hair of cute girls. Some people may wonder how this sub-set of hair blog readers could be powerful enough in the blogosphere to warrant a site dedicated entirely to them. On the other hand, anyone reading this that has daughters or even a single daughter, is nodding their head and knows exactly why such a blog would exist.
Little known fact, doing little girls hair, even cute little girls hair, can be difficult. In fact, rendering coherent hairstyles into the follicles of almost any female, be they toddler, adolescent, tween or teen, can be a trying experience. The exact reason for this difficulty can be as varied as the girls themselves. Some have no interest in hair and view being plunked down in the bathroom and assaulted with various implements of lock manipulation and restriction as some kind of strange and unknowable torture. On the opposite end of the cute girl spectrum are those for whom hairstyles are a type of talisman, the physical embodiment of their innermost selves. For these girls the coercion of their tactile souls (hair) into a suitable style is of the utmost importance. Unwitting participants in the daily rituals of these fledgling Cleopatras may be stunned by the effort and emotion some of us pour into their hairstyles.
For either category of girl, or everything in between, Cutegirlshairstyles.com is an absolutely wonderful resource and worthy of a place of honor at a shrine to the ancient god of hairstyles, whoever he or she may be. For the girls for whom hairstyles are paramount, Cutegirlshairstyles.com offers an almost limitless variety coupled with opportunities to see hairstyles “in action” though the use of videos, pictures, and reviews. It is like being able to try out new hairstyles without ever touching a single strand of your own hair, virtual styling, if you will.
This website also can provide aid when styling the more unenthusiastic girls out there who suffer through hairstyles or reject them outright. You would not believe how the willingness to participate in this manner of primping increases as the girls are allowed to take more of an active role in their own hairstyles. Allow even the most intractable of toddlers the opportunity to select their own hairstyles and the effort needed to actually make the hair take shape will be drastically reduced. True, you may end up with a girl who spends two weeks sporting a “bun-hawk”, but I submit that this is better than the alternative (for the non-parents out there the alternative consists of wailing, crying, flailing, flopping, squiggling, and squawking). Whatever your situation and whatever the state of the “cute girl” in your life, even counting yourself, frequent use of this website and the variety of hairstyling tips it offers cannot help but aid you in future hairstyling endeavors.
